Chantal Sutherland

Chantal Sutherland post seems to have been lost.  I wonder at who is responsible for making this computer delete a blogpost that was significantly important but I figured that it was due to my using the names of Chantal and Bo Derek that somebody may have caused this post to be deleted. I will delete the entire thing myself without help from anyone else thank you.

New blogspot maybe

I am thinking of creating a new blogspot just to see how it will work but will continue to use this one as well since it is a first.  I am going to see now how to do that.

Rewrites of drafts

I have been reading many interesting writer's suggestions about penning the novel.  In fact, some people who have been kind enough to share their own experiences with me have helped me to understand more and more all the technical aspects of writing that is not ever discussed at any of the writer's groups that I have attended.  Frankly, that bothers me to think that most groups are designed to be self promotional more than to really help and assist other writers.

One of the first things that one must consider before beginning to develop a novel is the overall time, cost, and tools necessary to writing the book.  It is not enough to just sit down and write the book, but the fact that it takes a certain kind of format, a certain type of presentation, that in today's publishing world, the first chapter itself seals the success or failure of the book. That notion is repeated over and over, that the first sentence, the first paragraphs, and the first chapters must create the interest in the book.

Most authors who write for the first time just want their book to be read and appreciated, to know that some reader shares in understanding all that one has written.  At this point, I am a bit sorry that I shared my first draft with a few, but at the time that I sent it out to a good friend who had been sharing her short stories with me, I honestly was being kind in having her read it.  She did give me back satisfaction in her comprehension of my intent.  She demonstrated to me that she understood my purpose in the authoring of this tale.

Granted, since then I have since revised many parts of it in my mind, but not yet on paper. I do not intend to over revise and rewrite this book, even if just to correct a grammatical error or spelling word.  I intend to let it sit and rest, then revise according to content that I wish to replace or to add.

Since my book is directed towards the average man, the person of sixth grade reading skills, I want the book to be read by many people for its purpose, that of introducing the reader to the life of Alexander as a child whose environment developed his character and personality. I want the world to know Alexander as the person who became the man that challenges caused him to become.

I do not intend to become didactic in any way.  I am writing this just to remind myself of all that lies ahead as I have been thinking about Philip a lot in regards to this book.  I am still on that first chapter, and while I am either using the burning of the Temple of Artemis or the person of Philip, I am still debating which would be the most effective chapter opener.  The prologue  will be that of the gods.

In my opinion, there can never be too many books on a particular subject, but each will be dependent upon the author's voice.  So far, I have not yet read a book that has appealed to me to make me understand or like Alexander at all. I don't find many authors who can truly turn Alexander into a character who I would want to bother to read again.

So I hope that I can correct that.  I know that people are drawn to Alexander but never for the right reasons.  I wonder whether Moses or Abraham as subjects are not also so difficult to develop but it appears that few authors want to tackle either one.  Most are drawn to Alexander for his military history.  He had other qualities than just military that made him so revered at the time of his life.

Those are too often lost. I do intend to cover those in my ongoing series of his life.  This is all a reminder to me of what is yet to come.  I usually write journals for my own personal needs, and this is one of those exercises.

ANDREA BOCELLI - SARAH BRIGHTMAN-TIME TO SAY GOODBYE

Farewell My Queen (spoiler)

I had read all about this film so I was prepared to know that they intended to show that Queen Marie Antoinette had had a lesbian affair with her favorite Gabriel de Polignac.  But I had no idea that it was so brutally frank and indiscreet in its presentation. I have seen all the pamphlets that show her in any number of forms of disgrace not only with women but with men, including the Marquise de la Fayette.  That in itself is the most preposterous unlikely coupling of all as neither could stand one another.

Let me say that I went to see this to see if this was another hatchet job against me. I had every reason to believe that it could be since I had been tagged as the Queen when I was teaching in California.  I have been called all kinds of names as well, including that of lesbian, but as with all lies, all the things that were said about me were outright lies as well, including that of lesbianism.  I have not yet met a woman I like to be honest to enjoy romance or sexual intimacies with.  Women are just not my cup of tea.  But let's not kid around, any person in authority figure position is hated for one reason or another, and suffers any number slings and arrows of outrageous misfortune.

I have belonged to a discsussion group on which the topic is Antoinette. I have only known a little about her history, but let it be known to one and all that no matter your lot in life, there will always be those who hate and scorn you due to envy, malice, and sometimes fear.  Teachers suffer all those negative responses from teenagers when teachers enforce the school rules.

So sure enough, as I suspected this current movie is very. much about me and I could and did see through it, but the final stamp at which I knew it was me was the scene in which Antoinette throws papers into the fireplace.  That really cooked my goose then and there as I had done that in my home in Davison, Michigan years ago which made me remember the Olympic games that were played then, when Princess Diana was still alive and well.  I had done some similar act as is portrayed in this scene which actually also got replayed on the soap opera Dynasty then, making me recall Crystal and her battle with Alexis.  Then I remembered a series of photos of self which vaguely make one think of both Antoinette and Marilyn Monroe.  I had sent one of these to Henry, a French lover from Rochester, New York.  It made me think of Henry and made me a bit suspicious then.

The reader in the film was obvious from the beginning and one scene in the movie made me recall the most recent EVALMO writers conference at which a woman did read aloud all the material on the screen.  I thought hmmmm...that must have been a  set up.  As the movie progresses, we finally see the writer's intent to make us know that Marie Antoinette has a love affair with Gabriel de Polignac and that she is likewise also interested in the young reader, a young girl having a quickie affair with a gondola driver.  He turns out to be an actor but as all actors, knows how to lie well.  That is after all the job of the film industry, to lie and cheat and to do it so everyone loves being lied to and cheated

The actor who portrays the King is quite interestingly enough a great choice for that role of the beleagurered and much misunderstood King.  He is quite attractive and not quite so dull as history often has depicted him.

Now I am well aware that there at least four women who believe themselves or want to believe temselves as having been the great Queen, Antoinette.  Whether they would like this movie or not is a matter of their being honest about themselves.  I did see that Gabrielle is supposed to have something in common with a childhood friend of mine which I recognized immediately in the nude scene so that I laughed aloud at that.  It is humorous in a way since the situation has so recently raised its head with my accepting money from that same friend to go to Colorado to see my dad.

So like in Three's Company which was clearly a takeoff on that same friend, myself, and her ex husband, I could see that this is the same thing in reverse. In Three's Company, they use my name, and in this movie, they use my friend's name.

.By the time the movie ends, it is clear that the actors and actresses all understand who is who when each is playing one another to save a friend, the beloved Gabriel.  She and her spouse are able to leave at the "orders" of the queen and therefore do save themselves.  But the reader is induced to be the bait when she has to switch roles with the Duchess to play her and thus save her from detection. She does it admirably.

They made much ado about a green dress when it dawned on me that it reminded me of a green dress that one of my students had made for my English Lit class that I had taught in Azusa.  They did miss out by not bringing in the harp that a student did also bring into my room to play.  That is an instrument that the Queen loved to play as well.  I missed that when she was discussing some items to be carried away.

So I saw that this movie is using me and my life to depict Antoinette which is o.k. but not o.k.  I am not interested in women at all for sexual or romantic reasons.  I have always been boy crazy as anything and to try to poison people's minds with such drivel is total nonsense. Fortunately, I had put some old photos of mine from the days when some people coined me as the Queen because of the Norma Shearer movie, I can prove that the role playing game at the end is fitting and that all the actors and actresses know full well what they are doing.

I always had a gap in my tooth.  It is now gone because my teeth are gone and I wear false teeth.

This movie is not about flattery.  I have done foolish things myself in my life. I have had friends who have been equally foolish and silly in our behaviour but none of us has ever reached in this lifetime the heights of a Marie Antoinette.

While I tolerate homosexuality in both men and women and accept it as a form of sexual abberation, I do not either approve or disapprove it one way or the other.  I find it to be a fact of life as is mental retardation or genius, etc.  There are all kinds.  But I do not like false accusations or charges. I doubt that many will see me in this film at all but a  rare few might.  I am wondering about all this obsession with me at this point in time.

I do have my own recollections of when I had lived in the past.  Those are already mentioned on this blog.  I am adjusting to the fact that my life will come to an end soon and there will be another life in another piece of flesh for me to occupy.  Male or female, I hope that it is an improvement over each and every one.  So if people want to be obsessed with me, I wish it would be for myself, not some other person in time and space.

I am a contradiction many times. I like the really high quality lifestyle also but I also like the simple life of freedom with no entanglements and no responsibilities.  It is best to be free to do what one can do with enough money to make it at best enjoyable and carefree.  Too many burdens make life unbearable.

Olympic Games

I am watching the olympic games and also seem to be proving that someone is reading my  blogs as I write them. I get very annoyed when I have written a paragraph to have it suddenly disappear from view, and I don't yet know what to blame for this phenomena.  Is it the word processor of the blogspot or is it my computer? I am highly suspicious.

The Olympic games are going forward as usual with teams competing and complaints popping up all over the place, some always ready to accuse winners of unfair practices like doping, and cheating. A team somehow or other has been forced out of the games due to the notion that they are not playing to win.  I think it is a badminton team that has had that problem.  What the heck? I tried to read the story but I have yet to do  it.

See there, a paragraph about God Save the Queen just was erased...I did not hit the blue highlight.  This may be the problem of having two ip addresses after all...maybe that is why this is happening. I will have to have that checked out now that I am realizing this all of a sudden.

Anyway,  I heard the anthem sung in England which was the result of a rowing team manned by two women who won the gold for England.  They were just on the podium making me wonder if MSNBC or NBC is monitoring my writing. I have been suspicious of someone eavesdropping in on my floppy discs once upon a time, so now it appears to be on the netbook also.

Madame de Maintenon wrote the song God Save the King for Louis XIV.  It traveled on  it would seem.

I am going to youtube to see if the gymnasts who won the gold for the USA is up yet or not.  Will publish this now....testing a few things on the blogspot.

How to publish a book

I will have to write most of my work at livejournal or wordpress I am beginning to believe because I do not know whether it is the computer, the blogger, the word processor or what, but I hate it when my paragraphs get deleted without my consciously doing it.  I cannot figure what causes this here but I dislike it intently.

My paragraph that was suddenly deleted out of the blue is simple...it is difficult to be a successful writer/ author in this day and age. I just read an article from the guardian which warned about self publishing, that too much money is expended with little return.

My point is that one begins and finishes a novel for the primary purpose of finding readers who will finally read the novel that you worked out so carefully.  I have been mulling over the problem of what to do with my novel which has only just begun.  I want to finish it completely, have it written in an acceptable and publishable form so that the world can learn of my topic through my point of view, through my eyes.

I honestly believe that the advice given in the guardian article is fundamentally correct.  There are so many people in the world today who have a story to tell that how does one find the right author and story for your own particular reading interests. I know my own preferences. I don't read every book that is out. I am not interested in every historical figure, or every modern day fad.  In other words, the Harry Potter influence did not reach me.  I see that children love fantasy, and Harry Potter was a great serial fantasy, but I would not attempt to compete with that kind of fictional tale.

There is room for many novels in historical fiction. It is the one genre that I believe is the most interesting and fascinating when someone discovers and falls in love with some historical character.
I see that the Australian Museum is advertising the Alexander exhibition.  Believe it or not,  I am trying to find the way to travel to Australia to see this exhibit.  Maybe it will help me in my novel.
