Betty Ford dies at age 93
I remember very well when Jerry Ford was sworn in as President of the United States. It is with great sorrow and respect for the First Lady that I make a few remarks about her now.
She became famous for her Betty Ford Center in Southern California which was built to help those individuals who need rehabilitation and assistance for drug addiction, alcohol, or other substance abuse related problems. I am sure that other causes for admission to this center are varied and many, but those are the most obvious. It surprised me when she came out and admitted to her having a problem with alcohol, a problem quite common amongst politicians wives, and other famous stars and spouses. Elizabeth Taylor probably is the most famous person who used the Betty Ford clinic to overcome a problem and met her future husband, Larry, there.
I just read that she has passed away at age 93, a few days after seeing Nancy Reagan celebrate her 90th birthday. I also learned that Betty's birthday was April 8, which touched me a bit, as it was on that day in 1976 that I bought my pet yorkshire terrier in Clearwater, Florida. I have a special place in my heart for the date alone as it was Good Friday then.
The Ford family became quite famous while Jerry was in office. Before that, he had been only a representative from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and little was known about him. For some reason Richard Nixon chose him to succeed him in office, knowing well that one day he would be called to serve the nation after he resigned.
I myself went to the White House during the Ford administration, and got in through friends of my mother and her ABWA group. I learned a few things there from another girl by the name of Ford, a girl who acted as a secretary to former President Nixon.
She is who took me into the old Executive part of the White House where I learned who is who amongst the office staff of secretaries.
An inside look at politics from within is not very pretty to see. I did learn though that Nixon was well liked by his staff, and all of them were sad to have him be forced out as he had been, so that Jerry Ford's entry was not necessarily a welcome one to most of them.
However, be as it may, Nixon and Ford played political hardball, and in the end, the Democrats took advantage of it to win the White House back but to lose it to Ronald and Nancy Reagan. American does not know quite how to elect presidents it seems.
We are on a seesaw of dem/rep but Betty Ford managed to change Watergate into a positive power for her way of drawing attention to her needs and problems instead of dwelling on the rascally Republicans in Watergate.
God bless her. May Americans learn soon how to elect the right people to office so that the likes of Jerry and Betty Ford will never have to happen again!

Fireworks Fourth of July
At the very last minute, I got a phone call asking me to go to Tempe to see the fireworks, so I said sure, and trotted my fanny down to Tempe with my friend. For the sake of privacy I will not divulge the name of this person...(I have my reasons).
So I found myself at last inside the gates of the ongoing Fourth of July party being held at Tempe annually. I enjoyed it, got a free whole apple pie to take home, and watched an inspiring and entertaining fireworks display! Nothing like the ones I celebrated as a child in Ohio, but nonetheless, long, loud, and colorful. What can you say about fireworks except that they are brilliant in the sky at night!
Now I would love to see the displays in Boston, NYC, and Washington, DC in person too for really the best way is live and at the site...T.V. can never do them justice!
The young mostly gather there and the parking was through a parking garage...my friend has nerve the likes of which nobody anywhere can match! This friend never ceases to amaze me even though at times we get annoyed with one another, we always seem to work it out. I am not sure if I am bringing out the best or the worst in this person and that is why I don't want to divulge the identity. If anyone can get things done, this person can and proves it to me every time...Together we have the luck of the Irish. Imagine finding a parking spot on level one when everything is filled, and the guides are directing everyone to go up to higher levels. Friend says oh I think my parking spot is still open...I spotted the place that was open and we were lucky and took it! Magic! You bet! We were lucky, and friend was gutsy, and I kept my eyes open and found it!
Pure Magic...Story gets stranger, but I will let it rest. That is all for now.

Fourth of July celebrations
Today is the fourth of July and I can hear all the fireworks going off outside. I love to see and hear fireworks, but they do not change much over time. If they are going off now, what will happen tomorrow night? I have no idea, but we have fireworks almost every night around here.
They are even selling home fireworks in the stores but they are allowed only in three cities. Would I buy fireworks to have to go to another city to use them? Heck, NO!
I had to take back a watermelon and two cantaloupe to Basha's tonight after I found that the watermelon was only pink, not ripe, not sweet, and the cantaloupe were hard and not fully ripe yet either...but they put it back on my debit card...annoyed me no end...I was all set to have a good piece of melon. To me, that is what the fourth of July is about...watermelon, picnics, and fireworks!
I told her that last week's melon was so good I was bragging about it but this was dreadful. This was from Tolleson, AZ, but the previous week's was from Mexico.
What does that tell you? Mexicans grow and harvest better melons than Arizonans do.
I may have to go to the flea market to see what the Mexicans are selling there. Usually their produce is pretty darn good and very cheap!
So while we Americans may celebrate the holiday, sometimes we do not live up to our overhyped belief of how good we really are. I don't think that this is the time to find that we are really failing in our causes!
Anyway, tomorrow is a great national holiday! Celebrating America's independence from the crown of England is the why of the holiday! And all the while we are now watching Kate and William tie the knot and Albert and Charlene follow suit in Monaco. Strange people we have in this world...commoners who are fascinated with fairy tales!
Then we turn around and toast to our nation's birth! Is this a crazy world or what?

Because this blog is a bit of a continuation of MyDearDiary, I still tend to write as I did there. When I create a new blog, I will definitely make it different, and write it so that it could be published as a book.
I have had strange experiences in my life for a long time. I finally today realized something about the unusual incident with the toilet seat as I watched my cat study the water going down when I flushed it. He always puts his paws on the seat to peer down and it dawned on me that he could not have gone near it for that litter to have remained there.
It was undisturbed. I heard him early this morning playing on the invert table and again playing beneath my bedding, so that I know he is nocturnal. The incident with the litter could only have happened between the hours of 5am and 10 pm so that whether he saw anything or not I could never know. But because he likes to watch the water flow down the toilet he often takes his paws and puts them on the rim of the seat. So obviously, for all that litter to have remained there means he did not touch it at all.
I did think to myself, what? do they think I am a cat? Then it finally dawned on me this morning that it is telling me that I am Alexander, and then I remembered Alexander being talked out of his remorse and grief over killing Kleitus to snap out of it and that came in loud and clear to me, to snap out of this, get up and get going.
I have been writing Alexander chapters in my mind, and they are fascinating, but again, they border on stories of real life that I personally dislike even though true and natural, and then think better of writing them. And I will give a for example here so that any reader will understand what I am saying.
People are always jealous of one another. So I had some ideas of some of the young boys who may envy Alexander a bit talking to one another.
"Yeah, I know Alexander is a prince, and he is Philip's son, but why is that he always wins every race we ever run?" complained ******* to *******.
"You think that is bad...He knows every word of the prologue to Ajax by heart." continued ********
"uh, huh, and he does criticize Philip, his father, a lot too!" muttered *******
"Yeah, but he works harder than any of the rest of us, and has to prove how good he is more than we do," protested one supporter, ********.
"Well, I like him, but I get tired of his always coming in first and best all the time, don't you?" complained *******again.
"Would you want to trade places with him?,' challenged ******. I admit he is better than I am at many things, but he is fair to me."
Agh, You're nothing but a kissass!, snarled *****
Oh yeah, do you think that you are so hot?" retorted ******.

Dreams, Fantasies, and Realities
July 2 was UFO day, and I had seen a movie about rats in Paris called Ratatouille, which was on dvd. A secondary movie in it was about a UFO that controlled events inside a house. It was a comedy, a cartoon type film that did hit home with me. So that is why yesterday I used UFO day to relate the incidents in my apartment this past month that have caused me to shake my head in wonder. While I will not recount these here, as they are too extraordinary, and while I did yesterday, I changed my mind after dreaming about my pet dog Clancey who was with me for many years in the past. He would always lie up against my back in the bed at night which gave me great comfort, and so this morning I had the sensation of his being in bed with me again, up against my back. I think that maybe I may be getting a hint of why the events that are happening in the toilet area may be happening as I write this. Last time I saw Clancey after death was in the bathroom.
So on that note, I will close, and ponder this thought for awhile. All these events are quite disconcerting to me.

Is a use of a word reason for suspension?
I don't think that the word Dick is reason for suspension. Sounds like a publicity stunt to me.
