Death of Larry Hagman

On Friday, November 23, 2012, Larry Hagman, son of famed actress Mary Martin, died from a bout with cancer and cirrhosis of the liver.

He was 81 years old.  Illness has a way of aging a person so that death is a welcome visitor to those who are suffering in pain and misery.  His diseases sound as though he probably has finally discarded the physical for the spiritual to be grateful for the release from his long term illness.

However, he is a Hollywood actor who brought us a lot of fun in his role as the astronaut who held the little genie in the bottle in the sitcom I Dream of Jeannie. I wonder how Barbara Eden must be feeling about her famous costar, and I send her my thoughts of sympathy and condolences for I am certain that she feels both grief, sorrow, and relief at his demise.

For years, he starred in Dallas as the tycoon J.R. Ewing, and kept CBS studios ratings at the top for his ripoff of Edna Ferber's famous Texas story Giant.

It will be interesting to see all the tributes that will come to him now. He will not be forgotten.
