Image of Alexander still on my mind

As a result of having that image of Alexander in my mind yesterday, I listened to the sound track of the movie Alexander directed and written by Oliver Stone. It is sad that Oliver Stone does not understand Alexander's true character when he finally decided to make this movie.

For starters, the gods do have to be recognized and understood to realize fully why it is that Alexander is of the belief that he has to answer the call to glory which is thrust upon him.

In today's world, we know many people who believe that they are called to the ministry or to the service of delivering God's message to others, and so it is that these same people should understand that it is this kind of dutiful call that Alexander believes he is destined to answer.

In the world of survival, the military is an honorable and ancient occupation upon which men give their lives to sacrifice for the wellbeing of the entire community if able to enter for the cause of self defense. In Alexander's time, it was not only an honor and a duty, but a form of salvation and a way into the history books and the place of eternal life in the Elysian Fields. This concept is as true today in many nations and cultures as it was then. So it is no surprise that men answer the call to duty when their nation is in peril or is under attack.

I was born during the time that America was watching Europe struggle against an aggressive power, and the President had to decide whether to send troops to assist England and other allies in fighting the battle against Adolf Hitler and his Nazi troops.

At the same time, we became engaged in another war in the Pacific after Japan invaded Hawaii and dropped a bomb on Pearl Harbor.

I grew up in the atmosphere of rationing, having men enlist in the service of the country, and listening to the radio for news about how the war was going in two different parts of the world.

I was too young to understand any of it, but I was aware that we could not have certain foods and clothing due to rationing and scaracity of products. Both bananas and silk stockings were prizes that nobody could afford.

Those were very hard times for most Americans, and those who had relatives young enough to be drafted prayed for their welfare when "overseas".

My uncle was in the USNavy so we had a star for him in the front window of our house to let everyone know that he was in the service. He was one of the lucky ones who survived the war.

W.W.II was very important to all our lives.

So it is rather strange today to realize that I, of all people, have had the wonderful opportunity to learn finally of an ancient who is famous primarily for his role as a military leader. The role of the soldier, especially the foot soldier, is often compared to that of the naval hero. One if by land, and two if by sea. The two work hand in hand but perform two entirely different types of service to the job of winning a war.

I will probably go through the arduous tasks that I have relived in Alexander til I am through with this blog, simply because I realize now that while I have sketched them and told of them before, I want them in one place, to be fully understood, so that I can better understand for my own self all that I have learned in this process.

Ihad been told by a fellow teacher in Azusa that my students like me because I tell it like it is...then a song came out with those words...lord knows how and why, but then I had a pet rock before the pet rock made its way to fame also...but anyway, I do tell it upfront and like it is as Belik once told me, and I will try my best to continue to do that.

But for the moment, the image of Alexander was one which showed his pecs to such great advantage, his muscles are just fantastic, and his body absolutely blew my mind...I could not believe it. I finally understood the meaning of Greek god, because believe me, he looks the part for all it is worth, and so that would naturally explain why it is as I said earlier, he is accepted at face value as being the right man for the role he plays. He is truly amazing to me.

I had never seen him like that before. Most of the time we think that idolatry and idealization are the cause of his statues and busts, but believe me, I learned that is not so...he is for real the very image as Oleg has on Alexander-Macedon in terms of his physical appearance...only I saw him reclining, not standing up, but oh man, I would walk a mile (as they say)....I have never been so grateful to learn the truth about his appearance at last!
