This sketch is a combination of several things...but the yellow part represents the hair of the queen, Marie Therese, Louis's first cousin, as she is the daughter of his mother's brother. She had beautiful golden ringlets, and was a very small woman who had difficulty speaking French since she is from Spain. She loved chocolate and this was the only time that I was able to get a glimpse of her. The lower right hand corner is a clumsy effort to show the king and his council when at a function when their painting was being made. I described this in one of the posts that I wrote, as it is the scene that I later found in a book on The Man In The Iron Mask. My memory is that they were having fun and laughing and as we say "cracking up".
